Humbling for the Holidays.....

I'm sure by now if you know me or my family, you've probably heard me mention about my grandfather, Paul Stewart(Pap) having Alzheimer's.
Well, each and every day is a "new experience", but it's something we as a family are trying to deal with. He has his good days, but he also has bad days.
My mom started giving him suckers a few years ago, as a reward for him cooperating and eating his meals. It started working and GrannyMa noticed that he would only eat the "chocolate" pops, so when anyone would buy him a bag, we would always have alot of the other flavors left. Last year, after Halloween I ran into Big Lots and found a bag of just "Chocolate Pops" and bought the entire case. Those didn't last very long, so we continued buying the regular bags and having lots of pops left over.
My Mom got to thinking the other day and called the customer service number on the back of the bag. She proceeded in telling them the story about how much my Pap loved their Tootsie Roll Pops, but only the chocolate ones. They told her that they only package them "all" chocolate at Halloween, for a special one time a year promotion. This past Monday, a package came in the mail to her from the Tootsie Roll Factory. Inside was a letter saying that her phone call and story touched their hearts and that they hand picked some chocolate pops and packaged them up just for Pap! ALL 200 just for him!!! Isn't that amazing???
I cried when my mom read the letter to me, and I also laughed and smiled at the same time, and with a humbled heart, thanked God that there are some good things still left in this world:)

GrannyMa's Homemade Chocolate Pie with Meringue Topping

A "special" birthday request for the "Katwoman":)

Hope you enjoy!

Happy Birthday "KAT"

Even though I forgot to post this on her actual birthday-"day", I just wanted to let her know how much I "wuv her":)
Her kitchen is open daily for my morning "coffee-shop talks", she listens & laughs at my "chaos", she keeps me "grounded" with her "attorney & therapist" sessions!, she's my #1 "food critic", she helps me realize how much a mother's love can change you into the person you never thought you could be:), she inspires me to be creative---even though I'm actually not:), she loves to listen to my "FunkyComadina" music:), I admire her passion for Relay...because she keeps me "Relayin"!!!
She "keeps me calm" so that I can "carry on" and I'm glad to call her my "TRUE FRIEND"!!!

Happy Birthday Katwoman:)

"I dedicate this tree to the Wanamaker Family Christmas"......

"250 strands of lights, 100 individual bulbs per strand, for a grand total of 25,000 imported Italian twinkle lights!"..................

hahahahahahahee:)
Honestly, I don't have that many lights, but I do feel as if my life is in comparison to Clark's!!!

It's taken me almost 3 weeks to get my tree up. I've been trying to work on a few strands of lights every night after getting home from work. I'm very "O.C.D." about my lights---I start in the back and wrap around every single branch! That way, not only are the lights on the ends of the branches, but they are also on the inside as well.... all the way to the trunk! It illuminates the entire tree, making it beautiful!!!
24 strands of lights, times 100 lights on each strand, for a grand total of "2400 imported mini Christmas tree lights!!!"
Thank goodness it's finally finished.....................now I can start my Christmas shopping!!!!!!!!hahahaahahahee:)

"THE STEWART FAMILY" by andi inc. photography

The family.
We were a strange little band of characters
trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste,
coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo,
borrowing money,
locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain
and kissing to heal it in the same instant,
loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out
the common thread
that bound us all together.
