Humbling for the Holidays.....

I'm sure by now if you know me or my family, you've probably heard me mention about my grandfather, Paul Stewart(Pap) having Alzheimer's.
Well, each and every day is a "new experience", but it's something we as a family are trying to deal with. He has his good days, but he also has bad days.
My mom started giving him suckers a few years ago, as a reward for him cooperating and eating his meals. It started working and GrannyMa noticed that he would only eat the "chocolate" pops, so when anyone would buy him a bag, we would always have alot of the other flavors left. Last year, after Halloween I ran into Big Lots and found a bag of just "Chocolate Pops" and bought the entire case. Those didn't last very long, so we continued buying the regular bags and having lots of pops left over.
My Mom got to thinking the other day and called the customer service number on the back of the bag. She proceeded in telling them the story about how much my Pap loved their Tootsie Roll Pops, but only the chocolate ones. They told her that they only package them "all" chocolate at Halloween, for a special one time a year promotion. This past Monday, a package came in the mail to her from the Tootsie Roll Factory. Inside was a letter saying that her phone call and story touched their hearts and that they hand picked some chocolate pops and packaged them up just for Pap! ALL 200 just for him!!! Isn't that amazing???
I cried when my mom read the letter to me, and I also laughed and smiled at the same time, and with a humbled heart, thanked God that there are some good things still left in this world:)

Her kitchen is open daily for my morning "coffee-shop talks", she listens & laughs at my "chaos", she keeps me "grounded" with her "attorney & therapist" sessions!, she's my #1 "food critic", she helps me realize how much a mother's love can change you into the person you never thought you could be:), she inspires me to be creative---even though I'm actually not:), she loves to listen to my "FunkyComadina" music:), I admire her passion for Relay...because she keeps me "Relayin"!!!
She "keeps me calm" so that I can "carry on" and I'm glad to call her my "TRUE FRIEND"!!!

"I dedicate this tree to the Wanamaker Family Christmas"......

"250 strands of lights, 100 individual bulbs per strand, for a grand total of 25,000 imported Italian twinkle lights!"..................

hahahahahahahee:)
Honestly, I don't have that many lights, but I do feel as if my life is in comparison to Clark's!!!

It's taken me almost 3 weeks to get my tree up. I've been trying to work on a few strands of lights every night after getting home from work. I'm very "O.C.D." about my lights---I start in the back and wrap around every single branch! That way, not only are the lights on the ends of the branches, but they are also on the inside as well.... all the way to the trunk! It illuminates the entire tree, making it beautiful!!!
24 strands of lights, times 100 lights on each strand, for a grand total of "2400 imported mini Christmas tree lights!!!"
Thank goodness it's finally finished.....................now I can start my Christmas shopping!!!!!!!!hahahaahahahee:)

"THE STEWART FAMILY" by andi inc. photography

The family.
We were a strange little band of characters
trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste,
coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo,
borrowing money,
locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain
and kissing to heal it in the same instant,
loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out
the common thread
that bound us all together.

Thanksgiving at Granny Young's.....

Tonight we had Thanksgiving at my Granny Young's house. She makes the BEST broccoli casserole ever!!! YUMMY:) Lori,
my favorite cousin((on my dad's side)), snapped this good pic of my dad, Salem, and I. I was so hoping to see Dana, but she was still at the hospital with Jeff. She did happen to call and say that the doctor's had made him get up and walk up and down the hall tonight, and that he would possibly get to come home either Tuesday or Wednesday. We are all praying for a speedy recovery for him after a "QUAD" bypass!!!

Oh well, all I can say is........one down, 3 more to go!!!

Happy Birthday Darlene.....

My support, my ally, my entertainment, my audience, my critic, my biggest fan, my best friend, .......

A Birthday Present for Alison.....

Today is my Cissy Alison's birthday!!! And with that being said, what do you buy someone who has practically EVERYTHING???
Oh well, I started "racking" my brain early last week, and could never come up with something I thought she would like---So then it hit me. I would paint her metal letter for her, and buy a wreath and "fru-fru" it up a little bit! I worked on it most of the afternoon, and finally got it assembled just a few minutes ago. I hope she likes it, and I hope she had a wonderful birthday today. I love her so much and I don't know what I would do without her.
Happy Birthday Buffy:)

"THE FIRST OF MY HOLIDAY DECOR".....

......well at least I've got that much accomplished!!!

I took a couple of days off to "rest my mind" and to "gather my thoughts", and still I'm totally "mind boggled" with all that needs to be done here at the house.

With that being said, at least I got my metal letters painted and hung in their proper spots!

I love the smaller ones that I hang on the outside of the boys bedroom doors. This year I painted them red, and accented with white & lime green dots. I found this polka-dot ribbon last year at Walmart, and I think it compliments the letter pretty good.

Oh my, off to get some more stuff out of the attic. Terry and Salem just ventured out for the "1st day of hunting season". I hope they find some cubbies, and bring home lots of quail--YUM-O!!!

Cherita's Baby Shower.....

My good friend, Lynn Bullen and I hosted a Baby Shower for our friend, Cherita Barnes Murray, Sunday afternoon at The Bullen residence.

Lynn's house is absolutely GORGEOUS, but was even more stunning, adorned with Baby decor!

She even had some of the tables adorned with Grant and LaraLynn's baby stuff---TOO CUTE:)

I arrived around 11am, to help Lynn get everything set up. Our Menu consisted of: Baby Blue-Raspberry Sherbet Punch, Mini-Phyllo tarts filled with Cranberry-Chicken Salad topped with Pecans, Creamy

Spinach and Ham Pinwheels, Raven's Vegetable Dip served with fresh celery & baby carrots, Fruit Dip served with fresh Fuji apples, globe grapes, and strawberries, Sugar Cookie petit fours, Baby "b" Sugar Cookies, Mixed nuts, and Butter mints.

Everyone had a wonderful time and Cherita got some really cute stuff. Lynn and I went in together and got her the Vera Bradley Microfiber Diaper Bag that she had been wanting. I think she was very surprised, or at least I hope so:)

I can't wait until baby BRAYLON LEE MURRAY arrives, I know he will be loved by so many, including myself---his #1 Auntie:)
